Susan Byrd

President of Economic Development Company

Susan Byrd has practiced law for more than 35 years as CEO and named partner of Ayers & Byrd, a civil litigation law firm located near Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to managerial and financial responsibilities for the firm, she was a “first-chair” litigator in a diverse range of civil matters ranging from banking/commercial law to cyber defamation to constitutional issues affecting commerce.

She has appeared before state, federal and appellate courts including the 1st and 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Labor. Susan’s law practice is complemented by her past commercial banking experience in loan structuring and finance.

After moving to Marlin, Texas in 2016. Susan successfully ran for the Marlin City Council, representing Precinct 1. She developed an expertise in water resources including the Big Creek project involving the proposed Brushy Creek reservoir in Falls County. Susan co-directed the annual budgeting process for the City. A dedicated community advocate, Susan lobbied for economic development and continues to work to improve Marlin and the surrounding areas.

Susan holds an LLM, American Banking Law, from Boston University; a J.D., from Oklahoma City University; a Comparative Law Studies – European Common Market Law from Queen’s College, Oxford, U.K.; an M.B.A., Marketing, from Central State University, Edmond, OK.; and a B.S., Radio, TV, & Film, from the University of Texas.
